Diomedes was a great soldier, he was one of the leaders of the Greek army during the Trojan war. He provided as many as 80 ships for the battle.  Diomedes was a great  Greek Hero. The Greek values that Diomedes represents are individualism, justice, and the pursuit of excellence.  He  represents  individualism because he is a great fighter alone and he is a leader. He also does not rely on others. He represents justice because he believes that everything should be fair. He represents the pursuit of excellence because he will try accomplish any task that is put in front of him.

The Story of Diomedes

Diomedes is the son of Tydeus and Deipyle. He grew up as a very talented boy. When his father was killed, he and a few other boys swore to defeat Thebes for revenge of what happened to their fathers. They finally defeated Thebes when Diomedes was about 15 years old. At that time diomedes was called "The Greatest". He became a very strong young man and he joined the Greek army. He became one of the leaders of the army. When the Greeks went to Troy to fight the Trojan war, Diomedes provided as many as 80 ships. During the war, Diomedes fought valiantly. While he was fighting Diomedes saw something that blew his mind. He saw the Great God Ares! He called for a retreat. Hera saw that Ares was fighting and she went down to the war and gave Diomedes the courage to fight back. Diomedes ran towards Ares and through his spear. With the help of Athena, the spear found its target. The spear struck Ares in the gut making him flee from the battle. After the Death of Achilles they had funeral games. Diomedes won almost every event he entered. The wrestling event was a tie between him and Ajax. In the funeral games for Patriclus, Diomedes won every event that he entered. Diomedes was one of the runner-ups to get Achilles armor. When Odysseus got the armor, Diomedes didn't go mad and kill his own men and himself like Ajax did. After the war, Diomedes went to Argos and succeded his grandfather, Adrastus as King of Argos. The way that Diomedes died was him bieng turned into a minor God by Athena. He was one of Athenas favoured heroes along with his uncle Hercules and Odysseus. Some say that Athena was in love with Diomedes.
